Cutting Chai with Bhawana Somaaya - Day 244

Date with poetry
16.12.2013

Jehangir Nicholson Gallery, CSMVS presented an evening of poetry and the visual arts where the artistic Mumbaikars were present to relish the visual arts and share their thoughts. The purpose of the event was to consider and highlight the relationships that have evolved among the various art forms, and how each art has enriched the other, especially since the protagonist of their current exhibition Mohan Samant:Paintings and Samant as we all know is as passionate about his canvass and colors as he is about playing the sarangi, does this mean that he is better in than the other? Or that he is partial to one art as compared to the other art form?
It was an enlightening evening of poetry with six other such voices - Adil Jussawalla, Gieve Patel, Ranjit Hoskote, Arundhathi Subramaniam, Jerry Pinto and Mustansir Dalvi. Visiting Jehangir Nicholson Gallery has always been a special evening but this evening was a special date.
