Cutting Chai with Bhawana Somaaya - Day 261

Hyderabad Lit Fest
08.01.14

It is interesting how every city these days is hosting their independent literary festival. After Jaipur, Agra, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Kolkatta we now have Hyderabad hosting a Literary Festival, an annual event that will celebrate creativity in all its forms. Started in 2010, the festival has come into focus in the last three years and 2014 has an unusual focus and will represent the cultural and artistic ethos of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as the vibrant culture of modern Cyberabad.

Hyderabad Lit Fest is a multi-lingual event and one of its distinctive features is the strong accent on writing in the Indian languages. Nearly 100 writers representing over a dozen Indian languages, including English, have participated in each edition of the Festival informs professor of English and director of HLF T Vijaykumar.

The three-day festival comprises varied programmes: conversations with authors, readings, panel discussions, workshops, book launches, cultural programmes, events for college students and school children, thus making it a Festival for All.
HLF 2014 is being organized by the Hyderabad Literary Trust in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Andhra Pradesh, and with the support of several academic, literary, cultural organizations and publishing houses.
