Black with 'Equal'/Day 591

Vickram Kapadia, who launched Masque in 1987, first directed the challenging Luigi Pirandello play Six Characters in Search of an Author. This was followed by landmark productions like A.R.Gurney’s The Dining Room, David Henry Hwang’s Dance and the Railroad, Girish Karnad’s Tughlaq, William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Eduardo Elba’s Marathon.

In 1998 and 2001, the company collaborated with two other theatre producers - Rage and Ohinniyan – to create the hugely successful Going Solo evenings -- a series of monologues.

Masque ventured into the world of Hindi theatre in 2013 with the Hindi version of Bombay Talkies, which Vickram had written and directed in English for the company Orchid Room Experiment in 2011.
The group recently premiered The Merchant of Venice under the Aadyam initiative. On 7 June premiered Black with Equal starring Utkarsh Mazumdar, Suhita Thatte, Dinyar Tirandaz, Jaimini Pathak, Raja Sevak, Dilnaz Irani, Daniel D’Souza, Seema Mishra, Jayesh More, Ajay Jayram and Vickram Kapadia.
