Jail Diary xvii
31.7.2013
Sanjay wakes up knowing that today is his last chance of
legal option and he is determined to do it with a smile. Summoned before a four
judge bench at the Supreme Court he says his final prayers for divine intervention.
It does not help. The judge does not find merit in Dutt’s
curative petition – the last procedural resort for a party to seek redressal
against SC verdict. A bench of justice had on March 21 upheld Dutt’s conviction
but
SC on May 10 dismissed his plea for a review of its
judgment.
Sanjay is sorely disappointed but is determined not to break
down at least not in public.
He has not slept in many nights and today, is perhaps the
most difficult night of all because it has frozen all possibilities of hope.
