Today is Poonam
Dhillon’s birthday. It seems like it was only a few years ago when director
Ramesh Talwar spot her picture and suggested her name for Noorie. Directed by Manmohan Krishnan Noorie was a dream for the
beautiful girl who was Miss Chandigarh to come to Mumbai and star with Faroque
Shaikh in a Yash Raj film.
Poonam’s next release
was Trishul where she played Shashi
Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan’s younger sister and sang ‘Gapuchi gapuchi gham gham…’ with Sachin.
There was no looking
back for Poonam ever since and over the decades I met and interviewed her on
many sets of many of her films.
